Radhanath Swami, on the Eve…

First the Glossary(…a little unorthodox style 🙂 )

Ananta Koti VaishnavasThe millions of devotees of the Supreme Lord Krishna; according to the Vedic understanding, the majority of them are in the spiritual world, beyond the material universes.

Pancha Tattva—The Supreme Lord manifesting in five features—Chaitanya Mahaprabhu,  NItyananda Prabhu,  Advaita Acharya, Gadadhar Pandit, and Srivas Thakur. Their activities are documented in the epic Sri Chaitanya Charitamrita.

Six Goswamis—The six saintly followers of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu who wrote books that form the basis of the Gaudiya Vaishnava Theology.

The story begins now….

Exam was approaching!!! At least this time… will I successfully clear my MS in Orthopedics?

Incidentally, Radhanath Swami visited my home on the eve of my exam. My medico friends also joined in to have his holy association. But the ambience was deadly dull: the gathering knew of the exam tension that gnawed at me, and they felt for this dear friend.

“So, how many times have you attempted so far to clear your exams?” Radhanath Swami asked me.  “Tomorrow will be the fifth,” I felt my parched mouth as I replied; I burned with anxiety.

“Fifth attempt? Don’t worry. The Pancha Tattva will be there to help you out tomorrow,” said Radhanath Swami. That was a quip, but nonetheless a blessings. I bowed down in gratitude. As I raised my head, Radhanath Swami peered into my eyes.

Perhaps, detecting that I was still edgy, he said, “Don’t worry. If you don’t make it tomorrow, on your sixth attempt, the six goswamis will be there to help you.” My friends burst out laughing. I broke into a smile, spontaneously fell on my knees, and bowed down before him. When I raised myself, Radhanath Swami studied my eyes—once again.

“Don’t worry. Even if you cannot clear in your sixth attempt, you can endlessly go on, for ananta koti vaishnavas will be there…” The last few words of Radhanath Swami drowned in the sounds of roaring laughter that now filled the room. That roar dispersed the cloud hanging over me, and I too had a hearty laugh.

The next day I performed well, feeling light and depending on higher powers. And it turned out to be a winning performance.

Looking back, Radhanath Swami had taught me a lesson of dependence and a lesson of detachment from results. Later on I came to know that he had also made sure that my preparations were good: weeks before my exam, he had secretly called on my friends to help me out with my studies. So, at the end of the day, the lesson was–work hard, but with dependence on higher powers and with detachment.

Radhanath Swami tries to help people in this case people would have looked down thinking this person is nothing but a failure and demotivated the person but Radhanath Swami gives us his loving hand to get up and fight again with complete dependance on the Supreme Lord.

Thank you Girish Prabhu for sharing such wonderful realization. I could understand that we have to try our best and always depend on the mercy of vaishnavas who are oceans of mercy.

this one is my favorites, HHRM definitely has a lot of good humour and Maharaj always pleases his devotees very well, regards, rajesh karia

Ah ah ah! To ease a tension requires an art and to do it with a spiritual touch a pure soul. Radhanath Swamis special touches over a vast spectrum of situations is well known, this one is a classic example.

Thank you for sharing your experience with Radhanath Swami. Radhanath Swami clearly tells here that just work hard without attachment and depend on the mercy of Krishna and Vaisnavas

Thanks for sharing this. I will try to always helplessly beg for this consciousness always. It also reminds me of other incidents in my life where I now realize that it is the higher powers that have taken care of me.

this is so true mercy of higher power is always available…point is are we keen to seek for it..

radhanath swami is so spontaneously humorous. this incident shows how his humour is also in connection to krishna.

This is what everybody needs to follow during exams. Work to your fullest and leave the rest to krishna.

Maharaj’s humour is both spontaneous and heart-warming.His pure consciousness reveals itself when he exudes warmth and concern towards others dissipating their fears while still remaining rooted in his spirituality. All glories to Maharaj.

Radhanath swami is such a wonderful surgeon . He knows how to cure and clear the cobwebs in our mind, butterflies in our stomach and the anarthas in our heart.

Radhanath Swami flattens you with his immense love, and concern, and then wins over your heart. A worthy loss, I would say!!!

Its amazing how Radhanath swami always brings in a sense of balance. Try your best while depending on higher powers. Not just effort or just dependence but effort & dependence. Thanks to Radhanath Swami for giving such a profound insight in such a humorous way.

This was amazing: 1) Maharaj inspires remembrance of Krsna in his humor. 2) Although he was joking but conveyed important lesson – no matter whatever be the material situation, how much ever depressed we are, never leave the association and for that matter KC. Never give up our dependence on Vaishnavas and the Lord in any circumstance not even in happy times.

How the exalted saints behave and accomplish the service of the Lord is way beyond our tiny understanding. However by the beautiful explaination give above we can see how Radhanath Swami first ensured that proper preparation was there and he personally gave the most need focus at the most important time destroying all unnecessary fear and anxiety!
