End of the Ride Adventures

Upon reaching the destination, I would slam on the brakes, turn off the ignition, and shove open the door—all in one action. After springing out, I would scramble to the other side of the car to help Radhanath Swami open his door. Every time I did it, I would see him discomforted by that air of royalty, but the high esteem I held for him pushed me on to continue with this extra service.

I distinctly remember that journey at the end of which two doors simultaneously swung open as the tires squealed to a halt. As I hurried out of the car to the other door, I found Radhanath Swami standing outside, his palms joined in pranam. His face as innocent as a flower bud, and an expression of plea draped over it, he conveyed a silent message into my heart. “Please, I can open the door myself.” That was the end of my end- of- the- ride adventures.

But I find Radhanath Swami’s face shine with delight whenever I offer the service of opening the car door to anyone else.

A true saint never allows anyone to serve him. Radhanath Swami has gone one step beyond – not only did he not accept service, he was very happy when the same service was offered to someone else.

Radhanath Swami is more happy when he sees others being served. Personally for himself he doesn;t like anyone serving him. What a life Radhanath Swami has lived simply giving comfort to others and taking all the pains himself.

Wow! what a humility. Each and every act of a saintly person is a lesson to people like me.
Daruk, you are so fortunate to get the opportunity to do this seva to gurumaharaj.
Jai Gurudev! Jai Bhakta vrinda!!

Radhanath Swami is so humble. He likes to lead a life of auterity. Thanks Prabhuji for sharing this beautiful incident. This will indeed help us to understand how a normal person should lead a life .

Maharaj is so humble. He doesnot expect any respect or service for himself, but gives all respect and serves everyone at any opportunity he gets. What a wonderful lesson for everybody.

This reminded me of another childhood incident HH Radhanath Swami Maharaj shared in the book “The Journey Home”. How he didn’t feel comfortable with the waiter serving him in the restaurant on the table. Maharaj always says Spirit Soul by nature is humble.

Radhanath Maharaj shows us through his own example the “amanina mandena” mood i.e. not expecting respect for onself. Such unassuming nature.

HH Radhanath Swami clearly delineated the principle for Spiritual Satisfaction – Don’t think about welfare of yourself, think about welfare of others. In fact, he stated in one of his lectures the principle that in spiritual life, we should have austerity for self and all comforts for everyone else. If this principle is applied, one is bound to become selfless and qualified to meet and serve god in every situation.

Amazing. Radhanath Swami shows an example of humility. Leader shown an example & common man follows.

HH Radhanath Swami Maharaj is a very simple & down to earth saintly person. He wins people over by his humility.

Great personalities wish that service is rendered to others and not them… So inspiring!

That was a very sweet story. And I liked the way Radhanath Swami conveyed his message by a simple gesture.

The incident shows HH Radhanath Swami does not like others to serve him. Instead HH Radhanath Swami is always eager to serve others.

HH Radhanath Swami Maharaj is emblem of service attitude. He is always eager to serve the mankind by spreading the movement of Srila Prabhupad all over the world. He is never eager to take any service

Once in Jagannath Puri yatra, Maharaj happened to sit beside me in a kirtan at the sea shore and after some time he left his chappals at that place and walked bare foot to receive some one. I didn’t relaise whose chappals they were and kept them aside. After few min, I observed Maharaj searching for something and I got a doubt that it could be the chappals that I kept a bit away.I took the chappals in my hand and hesitatingly showed it to Maharaj if he was searching for them. Maharaj immediately took them into his hands and felt uneasy me touching his sandals. It was a memorable experience for me to observe how humble Maharaj is that he was not ready to take even a small service from some one who is very insignificant like me. Radhanath Swami ki Jaya

Thank you sharing your experience. So simple, yet so wonderful.Really touched my heart.

Very nice story. This is a mood of followers of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Give all respects to other but expect none from others.

Radhanath Swami is so simple, such a big personality yet he dont want anyone to open door of car for him. Amazing.

Radhanath Swami can do all that he is in need. But for our own purification, it is nice to do for him. radhanath Swami is really a representative of God.

Great Humility – The process of communicating his message is very effective and inspiring. Thank you for this wonderful realization.

Radhanath Swami Maharaj shows by the example how much he personally respects everyone irrespective of their material position.

This is the real sign of an Acharya – one who teaches by example. A true saint like Srila Radhanath Swami Maharaj does not want to accept any service for himself, out of genuine humility, but is happy when we render the same service to others. All glories to Srila Radhanath Swami Maharaj!! Thank you Daruka Prabhu, for sharing this transcendental pastime with us.

That is Radhanath Swami’s humility – give all respect to others and expect none for oneself.
