In 1983, I became the first Asian and the youngest person in history, at age 19, to win Gold at the Salesmanship and Sales Management Exam conducted by the London Chamber of Commerce. This was indeed a laudable achievement, given that the exam is held yearly for the past hundred-odd years and attracts participants from over forty countries.
In 1989, during one of my initial interactions with Radhanath Swami, it was but natural for me to vent out the pride I felt in my achievements. He congratulated me with a gracious smile and said nothing more.
Several months passed before he picked on it again. In the middle of a conversation he discreetly conveyed to me, “If academic qualifications inflame our pride, it’s only a distraction for a spiritual seeker.” That obviously jolted my ego, but I knew he spoke for my spiritual welfare. I quietly nodded in agreement.
Later, I wondered how I would have taken that statement if it were to come in one of those initial interactions. I hadn’t developed sufficient trust in him then; I probably would have taken him otherwise and never come back again; that sentence, though true, would have probably plundered my spiritual life.

Radhanath Swami understands what to instruct when to ensure that the person is drawn closer to God. This is why he attracts so many.
That is symptom of a matured & perfect teacher, undertanding exactly what will benefit his students.
BG 4.34 advises us to go to spiritual teachers like Radhanath Swami who can impart true knowledge to us because he has seen (experienced) the truth. So according to time, place, person and circumstances, Radhanath Swami imparts true knowledge and in such a way that it will help the person in their life.

H H Radhanath Swami exactly has got an Xray vision and can see through clearly all thats in one’s heart. I also share similar experience with him when i received Gold Medal in my post graduate degree. With heart full of pride and ears waiting to hear His praises when i went in front of him, he told me: ‘ we are proud of you, but you should not be proud of yourself…’ Immediately my heart could feel his compassion as he guided me on path of devotion which requires humility as basic ingredients. Time and again same humility is felt in his actions which inspire us to follow this sincere leader. Thanx Swamiji, for your genuine love and care.

Radhanath Swami is a brilliant teacher because he teaches by his own example as well.
It is normally seen advice comes in different packages from different people, to advise somebody is like a natural hobby especially in this part of the world, very rarely are people sensitive to others sentiments. Radhanath Swami is not only compassionate to everyone but also sensitive to their feelings, yet he never compromises on guiding a person on the spiritual path keeping the persons ultimate benefit in mind.
